If you work on oil and gas assets offshore, your employer or operator will require an OEUK medical certificate before you step on site. This is the standard most operators recognise, and it needs to be current to keep you working.

GWO Medical
Required for wind turbine work — on or offshore.
The GWO (Global Wind Organisation) medical is a mandatory requirement for anyone working on wind turbines. It includes a Chester Step cardiovascular fitness test, which is conducted as part of the same appointment. The GWO standard is recognised by operators across the UK and internationally.

Chester Step Test
Cardiovascular fitness assessment — required for GWO, commonly added to OEUK for wind farm access.
The Chester Step Test is a sub-maximal cardiovascular fitness assessment. It is a mandatory component of the GWO medical and is frequently added to the OEUK medical to allow access to wind farm assets. If you are unsure whether you need it, check your operator's requirements or call the clinic.

How do I prepare for my medical appointment?

Can I book for a worker on their behalf (coordinator enquiry)?
Yes - coordinators and employers can book on behalf of workers. Use the employer enquiry form on the Contact page or call the clinic directly. For volume bookings, we recommend contacting us in advance to check availability and agree on scheduling.
Do you offer on-site medicals at our premises?
Yes, for employers with higher volumes. On-site delivery is available for health surveillance programmes. Contact us to discuss logistics and minimum numbers.
Which medicals are conducted in clinic versus remotely?
All industry specific medicals (e.g. OEUK, GWO, Chester Step, Combined) are conducted in clinic at our Dundee premises. Health Surveillance is available in clinic and on-site. Fitness to work assessments can be delivered in clinic or via secure remote video consultation.
How do I know which combined medical or assessments I need?
